We had 2 at Mt Cook and 3 at Tekapo with flights in the 80s and 70s. Longest distance so far is 131 kms from Magic to Teviot (south of Roxburgh) but the contest isn’t over yet. There’s been some pick-up problems resulting in nights out out in cars and farm buildings but no crashes in spite of thermals of up to 2400fpm to 10,000ft. The usual culprits, though informed that the club votes were enough to reinstate the magazine, still forced a meeting to be held at everyones expense. To top it they off tried to get me banned due to "conflict of interest". Talk about the pot calling the kettle black!.. After the latest survey showed support for Airborn and weeks of no reply from our president Xen Zambas, our vice president Russell Read said he was willing to authorise Airborn to resume. That evening our president emailed me to stop it. He has advised an SGM is required to stop the Airborn remit that he allowed to be tabled and passed at the last AGM.
